For this birthday card the inspiration came from the colours. My fellow “Pootler” Debbie Bradley at http://www.larlicrafts.wordpress.com showcased a lovely easel card she made using Melon Mambo Classic Ink and Tempting Turquoise Classic Ink. These colours reminding of my favourite football teams colours and with my Dad’s birthday looming I got sponging! I made two cards with similar techniques.
For the first card I took a piece of the Sale-a-Bration Irresistibly Yours Speciality Designer Series Paper measuring 5 5/8 inches x 3 7/8 inches (14.3cm x 10cm) and sponged on the Melon Mambo and Tempting Turquoise inks blending as I went. These colours work so well together. I then took my Little Letters Dies and cut out the letters representing my team and to finish off my piece I used the Confetti Stars Border Punch. I adhered this to my card base of a piece of A4 Tempting Turquoise Cardstock cut at 5 7/8 inches (14.8cm) and scored at 4 1/8 inches (10.5cm). I then took a small strip of the Tempting Turquoise cardstock and the Happy Birthday sentiment from the B.Y.O.P Stamp Set from the Spring and Summer Catalogue to make a sentiment banner, stamping in Versamrk Ink and heat embossing with Stampin Up White Embossing powder. I finished the banner by punching out a star with the star punch from the Itty Bitty Accent punch pack and popped this onto my card front.
For my second card I blended the two colours onto some Whisper White cardstock measuring 5 7/8 inches x 4 1/8 inches (14.8cm x10.5cm) and adhered this to my card base, a piece of Whisper White A4 Cardstock cut at 5 7/8 inches (14.8cm) scored at 4 1/8 inches (10.5cm). For my front piece I took a piece of Irresistibly Yours DSP and used the Little Letters Dies and Confetti Stars border punch to cut out my design. For my sentiment banner I used Melon Mambo cardstock this time. I popped these onto my card base and all its done two quick football themed cards which can be adapted with your favourite team colours!!
